At Eyedentity Vision Care we have state-of-the-art equipment to better serve your eye care needs:

- Retinal Photography to better document retinal health for those who have conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and macular degeneration.
- Computerized corneal topographer which analyzes the overall corneal curvature enabling not only a precise contact lens fit, but also detects any corneal damage or distortion.
- Dr. Thomas Carr, Optometrist, is therapeutically licensed to treat ocular conditions like pink eye (conjunctivitis), glaucoma and remove corneal foreign bodies on an emergency basis.
- On-site laboratory to provide glasses in a timely manner.
A patient’s health history and present conditions or problems are also discussed with Dr. Thomas Carr, Optometrist, to help in assessing eye health. Examinations typically last ½ hour. We believe in investing time with our patients to gain a thorough understanding of their individual needs and to help them achieve clear and comfortable sight. If necessary, prescriptions for lens or medications will be provided after the examination. A large selection of eyewear and contact lenses, including the latest trends, is offered in the comfort of our practice. Regular vision and eye exams are necessary in maintaining healthy eyes.

- Slit lamp biomicroscopy – an instument used to evaluate the anterior structures of the eye such as the lids, cornea, iris and lens under high magnification.
Examinations for Contact Lenses
Since contact lenses are fit directly on the eye, additional tests are necessary not only to ensure that the most precise contact lens fit and that the prescription is achieved, but also to determine if the eyes can safely wear contact leses:
- Slit lamp biomicroscopy – a microscopic evaluation of the eye to rule out conditions that would interfere with contact lens wear such as allergies, inflammation and dryness.
- Keratometry – measures the central curve of the eye – needed to determine lens shape, size and power.
- Tear assessment – volume and quality assessment.
- Corneal topography – computerized analysis of the overall curvature of the cornea that enables not oly a precise fit, but also detects any corneal damage or distortion.
- Determination of the contract lens prescription – differnet from the glasses prescription; the poswer needed in the lens to provide maximum vision.
- Contact lens design and analysis of fit – evaluation of the lens on the eye to ensure a healthy fitting relationship; specifically, proper centration and movement when blinking.
- Evaluation of the correct cleaning agents – improper cleaning agents can make contact lens wear intolerable, and actually cause dmamage to the eye.
- Radioscopy – measures the curvature of your current lens (also checks for warpage).
- Current contact lens inspection – assesses the optical quality of your current lens, inspection for surface scratches, tears, protein build-up, and edge smoothness.
- Cleaning and polishing of gas permeable lenses (optional).
